The municipal housing company Gavlegårdarna at Gävle Strand in Sweden, has introduced a form of living where expensive lock replacements and heavy key rings are but a fading memory.
All that’s needed to gain entry to the building, an apartment, a mail box, laundry room and garage is a programmable electronic key – an Aptus key. Should a key go adrift it can be blocked at the press of a button and the tenant given a new one.
“The advantage with electronic keys is that handling, administration and security are improved while we are able to offer modern living for tenants,” says Ulf Gavlefors, Project Manager at AB Gavlegårdarna.
There is a digital information board in the entrance that shows the tenant directory, the latest news from the housing company and individual information.
“Aptus digital information boards allow us to provide up-to-date information and make it public fast,” Ulf Gavlefors tells us.
In order to enjoy reliable laundry facilities and a fair distribution of laundry times, tenants at Gavlegårdarna will be able to book the laundry on an electronic reservations board or via the internet. The guest apartment, sauna and fitness center are already booked this way today.
Gavlegårdarna meters electricity, heating and hot & cold water consumption in each apartment. Tenants will soon be able to monitor their consumption via the internet.
“According to a survey 96.5 percent of occupants thought the system to be good or very good,” concludes Ulf Gavlefors.
